The Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) has announced the appointment of 5 new directors to its board. The ARC Board is comprised of 6 directors in total, elected by the membership to represent the industry's diverse interests. To ensure balanced representation, the board consists of 3 directors responsible for the stationary sector and 3 directors responsible for the automotive (mobile) sector. The ARC CEO serves as the Executive Director.

From 1 July 2026, the Commonwealth penalty unit increased from $330 to $364 under section 4AA of the Crimes Act 1914. This means fines for offences linked to penalty units have also increased. A penalty unit is a standard monetary multiplier set by law.

Application fees for refrigeration and air conditioning (RAC) industry permits are indexed annually under the Ozone Protection and Synthetic Greenhouse Gas Management Regulations 1995. As of Thursday 1 January 2026, RAC industry permit application fees have increased by approximately 3.4 per cent, in line with the Wage Price Index (WPI) published by the Australian Bureau of Statistics.
