Major reforms at VBA

The Government has decided to introduce new governance arrangements for the VBA from 31 March this year. The intent of these changes is to enable the VBA to move decisively and quickly to implement new approaches.
The new arrangements which have been announced by the Minister for Planning, the Hon Sonya Kilkenny, are:
- Appointment of the current CEO, Anna Cronin, as sole Commissioner from 31 March until 31 March 2026 to replace the current Board. Ms Cronin will report directly to the Minister.
- Establishment as a matter of priority of two new advisory committees to support the Commissioner – one for building and one for plumbing.
After the initial 2 years the Government will consider new arrangements to ensure best practice governance for the Authority.
