Every 2 years young refrigeration and air conditioning apprentices and tradespersons compete in regional and national competitions, with major sponsorship from Refrigerant Reclaim Australia (RRA), Kirby (Beijer Ref), ARBS, Australian Refrigeration Council (ARC) and TAFE. The national winner is then usually selected by WorldSkills Australia to compete at the international competition.
WorldSkills Australia has named Bailey Loenneker to represent his country in refrigeration and air conditioning at the 47th International Competition in Lyon, France, in September 2024.
Australian air conditioning technician Tom Clancy upheld Australia’s reputation for quality refrigeration work at the WorldSkills international competition at the Chillventa exhibition in Nuremberg in October 2022.
